high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows. Basically there are couple of ways we create these effects on a digital image. 1) Take a series of photos in sequence using a tripod and a weight. These photos will have diffent exposures to show highlights and shadows. Usually I take between 5-7 photos. You then take these photos into a software rendering program that merges all these photos together. Oh yeah these effects are greater shown if you shoot RAW files. 2) You are good at photoshop and render and mask and create multiple layers to minipulate the image. Most Nikon cameras can create HDR images right in the camera, check out the manual. These are some of the HDR images we have created using Photo Shop software and tweaked. These are some of our favorites. Thank you for looking.
